Underwater archaeological studies was conducted in the seasons 2023–2024 on Lake Issyk-Kul (Kyrgyz Republic). Archaeologists have discovered the remains of brick medieval buildings and kiln complexes under water. Fragments of ceramic vessels, animal bones and slag were found at the bottom of the lake. In addition, an area with a preserved cultural layer was found at the bottom. The results of the expedition confirm the concept that a large settlement went under water in the Middle Ages. These archaeological works are important for understanding the medieval history of the region and developing methods for underwater research of this type of sites.
