A typological analysis of the albarello as a form of glazed red clay ceramics, which was produced in the Golden Horde cities of the Lower Volga river region, is provided in the article. The albarelli were intended for medicines and aromatic substances, but they could also be used as inkpots. The findings discussed have been made on the sites of residential and household structures located in the cities of Sarai-al-Maqrus and Sarai-al-Jadid and dated back to the 1330/1340s–1360s. The items are grouped along the lines of their origin into those of local (Lower Volga) manufacture and those imported from Southeastern Crimea, both groups differing in size and shape. The typology of the two groups is offered on the basis of technological characteristics, such as glaze color and ornamentation mode.
