The monograph by R.D. Goldina devoted to the 7
th – 9th-century Nevolino burial ground site is highly evaluated in the review. It is a complete and high-quality publication with a versatile analysis of the materials of the burial ground, which had been completely excavated by the author in 1968 to 1982. The catalogue of burials is accompanied by a translation into German. The funeral rite analysis is presented in the context of the overall characteristics of the Nevolino culture ritual features. The grave goods are classified in full detail. Compared to previous dating, the new materials made it possible to expand the dating framework of the burial ground to the period between the second quarter of the 7th through to first quarter of the 9th century. Basic trends in the cultural contacts of the Kama region population in the 7th – 9th centuries are revealed. Problems related to the social organization of the Nevolino culture population are considered. On the whole, the monograph is a valuable source and a reliable basis for further research. Keywords
